The Team
Jorge Segura Mora. President & CEO
Born in 1965, Jorge is a Fullbright Scholar; with a Bachelor's Degree -Summa Cum Laude- in Business Administration specialized in Corporate, Banking and Investment Finance, from West Virginia University (USA, 1994). He is also a Chevening Scholar of the British Council, with a MBA in Finance from the City University of London (UK, 1997).
Jorge was Product Manager for Corporación Banex S.A. (1994-1996), where among other projects he designed, launched and managed, in the local market, the first corporate system of electronic banking in Costa Rica and the region, using Internet technology. In this Corporation's benefit, Jorge also assisted the corporate CEO, and acted as technical adviser for the managers of the bank, the credit card company, and the brokerage house. During this period, Jorge passed the courses required to become a stockbroker of the National Stock Exchange, and the Electronic Stock Exchange of Costa Rica.
In 1998, Jorge became founder of DCL Consultores; where as Senior Partner he structured, directed, and executed consultancies and gave expert advice in the areas of Real Estate Finance, Investment Finance, Personal Financial Planning, Business Administration, Financial Engineering, Corporate Finance, Tax Planning, Strategic Management, etc.
During the period from 1998 up to date, he has acted as Director of the Training Program for Stockbrokers of the Electronic Stock Exchange of Costa Rica (1998), Foreign Finder for Prudential Securities (USA, 1998-2000), and Local Adviser for Latinvest Securities and BBV Securities (UK, 1998-1999). He has also been the External Director of Corporate Finance for HCA Advisors (USA, 2000-2001), Board of Directors official, and Owner's Representative, manager and trustee for local and international business interests (2002-to date), and external member for the Investment Committee of Interfin-Banex Pension Fund (2004-2007).
Mr. Segura is currently the CEO & President of DCL Consultores. In this position, Jorge has in his care the management and strategic direction of the company, and he acts as senior project manager, strategist and adviser for the clients of the firm.
Javier Segura Mora. Commercialization Manager
Born in 1968, Javier started his career acting as leader of the students' body, and of cultural organizations, at the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (ITCR), where he obtained his specialization in Finance in 1992. Javier's political and professional experience, have allowed him to become a business expert with great technical skills, business vision, and negotiation capabilities at all levels.
As consultant, Javier initiated his professional career in 1992, performing as independent adviser and consultant in the areas Financial Management, for private corporations, health cooperatives, and national and international organizations specialized in micro tourist companies and commercial enterprises. In 1996, this professional assumes as Chief Financial Officer in Latin America for Interflex Management Systems, Inc., an American corporation with headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, which was later acquired by Digital Systems.
In 1998, he obtained the qualification to become a stockbroker of the Electronic Stock Exchange of Costa Rica, and he assumed functions as Consultant for Dadedalus Consultores Ltda. In this post, he was in charge of researching, developing and adapting, international mortgage securitization technology to the needs of the local market.
In the year 2000, Javier was named Consultant for DCL Consultores, where he executed consultancies and gave expert advice in the areas of Real Estate Finance, Investment Finance, Financial Management, Business Administration, Corporate Finance, Strategic Management, etc. As of today, Javier acts as Commercialization Manager & Project Consultant for the company. In this post, he is in charge of the commercialization strategy of the firm, and he is also responsible for the implementation of new technologies, and performs project planning as well as the execution of the consultancies requested by the clients of the firm.
Over the years, Javier has continued his technical training, attending courses and seminars in: Tax accounting, Economics, Assets Securitization, Portfolio Management, Valuation and Development of Projects, Financial Engineering, Ericksonian Techniques, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Holistic Ethics, etc.. Additionally, Javier has taught courses in Financial Management, Information Technology, Differential and Integral Calculus, Accounting and Inferential Statistics, at the Universidad Panamericana de Costa Rica. Currently, Javier is an MBA candidate in the Project Management program of the Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica.
Lina Valderrama, Logistics & Resources Manager
Born in Colombia in 1978, Lina initiated her career in the Universidad Pontifica Javeriana of Colombia, where she obtained a specialization in Political Sciences (1997-1999), and trained in International Politics Communication Processes (1998-1999). She continued her studies at the Universidad de Los Andes (COL, 1997), preparing herself in Projects' Evaluation. During that period, Lina took active part of the students' body, and of social projects sponsored by her University, and she was a member of the Red Cross and Civil Defense of Colombia. Lina's political, and professional experience, have allowed her to become a resourceful executive; one with great analytical skills, outstanding capabilities for institutional relations and for thinking outside the box.
Professionally, Lina started her career in her native country, acting as consultant of the project “Cartucho: Retorno a la Vida” (1998-1999), and as a cofounder and Editor of the magazine “Caballo de Troya” (1997-1998). In 1999, this professional immigrated to Costa Rica, where she started a specialization in International Relations at the Universidad Latina of Costa Rica (1999-2003).
In the year 2001, Lina assumed functions as part of the staff of the Presidential Advisory Council, for the then president Mr. Miguel Angel Rodríguez. In this post she acted as Assistant Project Director in charge of the logistic implementation of the project “Communications Without Borders”; which had the objective of achieving that the entire country's population had access to Internet.
In 2003, this professional joined the executive team of DCL Consultores, where she acted as business analyst, executing consultancy activities related to the implementation of administrative and financial solutions for international real-estate developers.
In the year 2005, Lina left her post as Analyst to become Business Advisor where she is responsible for the execution of the consultancies requested by the clients of the firm. In 2007 she assumed functions as Logistics & Resources Manager. In this post, Lina is in charge of : 1) Creating and securing the material and objective conditions required for the effective execution of the Firm’s contracts, 2) Managing the company’s relations with regulatory bodies, 3) Safeguarding the resources entrusted by the clients to DCL, and 4) Protecting the knowledge and resources of the firm.
